Anxiety, Stress & Panic Counseling
Anxiety can show up in many forms, such as racing thoughts, persistent worry, tension, difficulty sleeping, physical discomfort, or an unsettling sense that something is wrong without knowing why. For some people, these sensations build into panic attacks that can feel frightening and overwhelming. Over time, you may begin to fear the anxiety or panic itself, worrying when it will return or whether you can handle it.
We help you learn to relate to anxiety differently—not simply by trying to make it disappear, but by becoming more curious about what your nervous system may be communicating. Anxiety and panic often develop for understandable reasons. They may be connected to earlier experiences of danger, criticism, unpredictability, loss, pressure, or having to closely monitor others’ moods to avoid conflict or rejection. What feels like an overreaction in the present may have begun as an important way of protecting you.
Therapy can help you become less afraid of the physical sensations of anxiety and panic, understand the patterns and emotional wounds beneath them, and develop greater compassion for the ways you’ve learned to protect yourself from pain or overwhelm. Paradoxically, as you begin to relate to anxiety with greater understanding and less fear, the symptoms themselves often begin to soften.
Alongside practical tools for calming the body and navigating stress, we may use approaches such as EMDR, IFS, and body-based awareness to explore how past experiences have shaped your emotional responses, understand the protective patterns that keep anxiety going, and help your nervous system develop a greater sense of safety in the present. Rather than focusing only on managing symptoms, these approaches can help you work through the underlying experiences and patterns that contribute to anxiety.
Our goal is to help you feel more grounded, connected, and confident in your ability to navigate difficult experiences with greater understanding and care.
